Picture Wild Montana

Montana Public Lands Media Contest

Montana has an incredible wealth of public lands, from the unbroken prairie grasslands in the east managed by the Bureau of Land Management to the jagged mountain peaks in the west managed by the Forest and Park Services to all the unique places managed by Montana State Parks. We want to celebrate all of these landscapes and honor the adventurous folks who enjoy them. Whether you take week-long backcountry trips or stop along the highway to stretch your legs on a road trip, we want to see how you picture wild Montana.
 
Contest is open from November 1 to November 30.
Winners will be annouced mid-December.
 
 
 
This year we have two categories: film and photo.

PHOTO CONTEST
 
HOW TO ENTER
All entries must be submitted electronically using our web-based entry form below.
You may enter as many photographs as you wish.
The photographs must be uploaded one at a time.
All entries must be JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) file format and have a recommended resolution of at least 2,000 on its longest side, preferably 3000 x 2000 (six megapixels) and above.
NOTE: Your name, city and state will be viewable on the site post submission, but all other personal information will be kept private.

VIDEO CONTEST
 
HOW TO ENTER
Videos must first be uploaded to YouTube.
Next, complete the entry form by clicking 'submit video' below.
You may upload as many videos as you wish, but they must be uploaded one at a time.
They should be 30 seconds to 3 minutes in length.
Videos may be edited and thematic in nature (documentary style) or raw footage showcasing Montana's public lands. 
Content should be original and should contain no copyrighted music without permission.

JUDGES
Luke Duran - Helena, MT

Luke Duran has been art director of Montana Outdoors since 2002. Previously he was creative director at a multi-national communications company in Vancouver, Washington, a designer at the Livingston Enterprise newspaper in Livingston, Montana, and a graphic artist for Gibson Guitars. Luke operates a freelance design business, enjoys cooking, landscaping, aquariums, and hiking. An avid music lover and bass guitar player, he plays in The Mighty Flick, an '80s dance band, on the weekends.
